FAQ

  • 1. Do I need a referral?

A referral is not required to book an assessment, although some people are referred by their GP, psychiatrist, school, or workplace. If you’re seeking Medicare or NDIS funding, a referral may be necessary.

  • 2. Is the cost covered by Medicare or private health insurance?

Medicare rebates generally apply to therapy sessions under a Mental Health Treatment Plan but do not usually cover assessment services. However, some private health insurance policies or NDIS funding may contribute to costs. We can provide an itemised quote to assist with claims.

  • 3. Are assessments suitable for children?

Yes. Our psychologists have experience working with children and adolescents. We use age-appropriate tools and approaches to help children feel comfortable and to ensure accurate results. We ensure that we follow strict ethical guidelines and do not proceed with an assessment if it is not appropriate.

  • 4. Is my information confidential?

Yes. All information collected during the assessment is confidential and managed in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles and the APS Code of Ethics. Reports are only shared with others (e.g., schools, GPs) with your written consent.

  • 5. How long does the assessment process take?

The duration varies depending on the type of assessment. Most assessments involve:

    - An initial consultation (60-90 minutes)

    - One or more testing sessions (1–3 hours each)

    - A feedback session to discuss results and recommendations

Typically, the entire process takes 2–6 weeks from the initial appointment to receiving your written report.

  • 6. What is included in the assessment report?

Your report includes a detailed summary of assessment results, professional interpretation, and clear recommendations for support, intervention, or further evaluation. You will also have a feedback session with your psychologist to discuss the findings in plain language.
